The !Kheis municipal area was initially inhabited by the Khoisan people, who were also the first permanent inhabitants of South Africa. The San, who lived a nomadic life, migrated through the area. Kheis is a Khoi name meaning ‘a place where you live’ or ‘your home’.

Message from the Mayor
The year under review marked a period of changes, both at an administrative and political level.
I took the office few months ago, and we appointed a municipal manager and filled all section 57 management positions.
The biggest challenge was to ensure stability in the institution during this transition phase.
